Smallholder farmers in the region typically grow coffee on small plots alongside other crops and deliver their harvested cherries to a local washing station for sorting and processing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWashing stations bring together deliveries from many producers throughout the harvest. This means the coffee is traceable to the washing station, rather than to an individual farmer.
